As received, in need of cleaning and repair A total of 4 toes missing, borax leakage, and legs/beak were never painted Right eye was mounted crooked; rehydrating surrounding skin for eye removal Eye removed; removal of a little clay inside allows eye to be remounted straight The removed eye; some paint was damaged during removal, repainted damaged area Crest missing feathers, replacing with donor feathers Finished crest Start of rebuilding toes/claws with epoxy putty Rebuilt toes Damage to leg skin repaired with Japanese tissue papers Additional Japanese tissue applied to repair damaged areas and smooth rebuilt toes First coat of paint on legs and toes Dark glaze to bring out detail Highlight glaze to bring out detail Missing feathers/exposed armature before and after. Repaired with salvaged feather and Japanese tissues. Beak has odd "Elvis" curl that causes specimen to look lopsided; left eye is lacking eye ring/eyelid Rehydrating of beak This was a difficult part to reshape, and I had to get creative Strategically placed pins plus weight straightened the beak out to a more natural look Beak painted to natural colour Working on groundscape. Used flocking and spray glue to give a more natural appearance. Before and after of beak reshaping and eye ring addition. Also re-coloured/added detail to thin feathered areas near beak and around eye.
